Jeffrey Bundy, Ph.D., CEO, United ImagingJeffrey Bundy, Ph.D., CEO, United Imaging The key to achieving equitable access to care is eliminating disparities in the availability of medical imaging technologies and qualified radiologists.

A report by the Journal of the American College of Radiology reveals that the Northeastern U.S. has a relatively higher concentration of advanced imaging equipment, while the Southern states have the lowest. Mayo Clinic reports as much as a fourfold difference in the number of radiologists per 100,000 Medicare beneficiaries in different regions of the U.S.

United Imaging, a leadingedge medical equipment manufacturing company, was established with a pursuit to address these shortcomings and lead the charge in revolutionizing equitable healthcare.

Its market positioning is shaped by two fundamental pillars; a visionary outlook to be a healthcare innovator by introducing cutting-edge imaging technologies and an unwavering mission to ensure that all individuals have access to advanced digital technologydriven healthcare.

In line with this vision, United Imaging offers the latest and most advanced imaging technologies, irrespective of location, nationality, or other demographic factors. Through its market-leading solutions, including imaging and interventional equipment, United Imaging seeks to deliver the same level of care and capabilities to every individual. This pioneering approach is setting a new standard of care, one that is equally accessible to all.

“With many longstanding players and established norms, we understand that changes are long overdue. Our primary focus is on prioritizing the customer. Rather than building our company from a headquarters outward, we are dedicated to building it from the customer in,” says Jeffrey Bundy, Ph.D, CEO of United Imaging in the U.S.

Rightly so, United Imaging’s core principle is centered on people. From the chairman of the board to a new employee, everyone in the firm shares a common goal of customer success and equal healthcare for all patients that interact with their equipment. It firmly believes that its customer-centric focus drives the effectiveness of its day-to-day operations and influences the creation of innovative business models.

A Game-Changer in Medical Imaging with AI
One of the most significant innovations by United Imaging is the integration of AI into its imaging systems from the beginning of the design process, something the company calls “Born with AI.” It brings numerous benefits to both radiologists and patients. By automating tasks, such as planning, scanning, and image interpretation, AI can assist radiologists and technologists in creating and analyzing images and speeding up diagnosis and treatment. For patients, this translates to a more streamlined experience. Patient data can also be used to create 3D models of organs to generate personalized treatment plans. This helps better understand their condition and the available treatment options, ultimately leading to a more positive and informed patient experience.

The recent introduction of uCT® ATLAS by United Imaging represents a major milestone in the medical imaging industry, setting new benchmarks for high-performance CT scanners. With its advanced features, including an ultra-wide bore, exceptional weight capacity, and integrated AI, uCT ATLAS offers unmatched clinical flexibility and precision, making it ideal to comfortably scan obese patients even in trauma cases.

This state-of-the-art scanner allows healthcare providers to easily perform even the most challenging scans while delivering a more comfortable patient experience. United Imaging’s uCT ATLAS is undoubtedly raising the bar of the quality and efficiency in diagnostic imaging, staying consistent with the company’s mission to serve the community with high-quality, patient-focused care close to home.

The scanner’s integrated uAI Vision 3D camera further enhances the AI workflow, streamlining operational processes and simplifying complex exams. By facilitating data acquisition, reconstruction, and visualization, the 3D camera enables the scanner to deliver efficient and easily comprehensible results, eliminating the need for repeated imaging tests and unnecessary radiation exposure. This camera was initially introduced on the uCT ATLAS, but will also be added to other modalities in the future.

During a recent medical imaging procedure in a hospital setting using uCT ATLAS, an unconscious patient was brought into the scanner room. The uAI Vision camera analyzed and segmented the patient’s body, identifying the head as the area of focus for the scan. Despite having no prior experience with uCT ATLAS’ user interface, the technologists were able to quickly and efficiently complete the scan by pressing a single button, thanks to the scanner’s intuitive software design and AI implementation. After the scan, the patient was promptly taken back to the emergency room for further treatment. This highlights the significant strides United Imaging is taking toward improving patient experiences in the medical imaging industry. The fact that this capability is included on every single uCT ATLAS, shows United Imaging’s commitment to equal healthcare.

The Successes of an Inclusive Care Ecosystem

Bundy’s recent visits to healthcare facilities, both academic and rural, brought to light that regardless of location or size, they have a shared objective of providing excellent patient care and experiences. As a Midwesterner, he felt particularly motivated to offer healthcare solutions to customers in that region. During a recent trip to a small community of 6,000 people, he was elated to see how United Imaging’s solutions are being used in the top hospitals and rural areas alike, helping to guarantee that equal quality care is available to patients in all settings.

With many longstanding players and established norms, we understand that changes are long overdue. our primary focus is on prioritizing the customer. rather than building our company from a headquarters outward, we are dedicated to building it from the customer in

In another instance, United Imaging assisted a group of radiologists performing cardiac imaging care in rural settings across the U.S. It was difficult for them to continue serving specific locations due to limitation in the conventional facility infrastructure. United Imaging devised a unique solution together with its partner; a self-supporting mobile trailer equipped with its advanced digital imaging equipment. This mobile trailer, powered independently, could be conveniently stationed in any parking lot, enabling imaging services to be conducted within even the smallest of local communities.

While other mobile solutions exist in the market, they often require substantial investment in facilities and power infrastructure. United Imaging’s self-sustaining system proved to be revolutionary because of its mobility and power independence, empowering them to expand their business and provide high-quality care in locations that previously lacked such advanced imaging capabilities.

Scripting many more success stories like this, and having installed over 20,000 units in the U.S. and the rest of the world, United Imaging has firmly established its presence and showcased its commitment to revolutionizing the healthcare industry with its solutions. These remarkable achievements have opened doors for individuals in remote areas to access advanced imaging services, traditionally limited to academic centers located hours away. Through close collaboration with its healthcare clients and the application of innovative engineering and product management techniques, United Imaging is dedicated to expanding its portfolio and introducing new products tailored to meet specific patient requirements.
